Fishers, IN - Stephen MacKenzie formally announced his campaign for the Republican nomination for Congress in the 5th District of Indiana today. MacKenzie will face Congresswoman Susan Brooks and perennial candidate Mike Campbell in the May 3rd, 2016 Republican primary.
Mr. MacKenzie stated, “I am a true outsider, non-establishment constitutional conservative Republican. I feel like it is time for us to send men and women from the real world to Washington, D.C. to work on our behalf. The political ruling class has failed us and our country needs to elect citizen representatives that are proven leaders.”
Stephen MacKenzie strongly supports:
- The Second Amendment.
- Securing all borders.
- Enforcing our immigration laws.
- A strong, vibrant military.
- Repealing and replacing Obamacare.
- Term limits for members of Congress.
“A clear difference exists between Susan Brooks and myself. I am pro-life and I oppose Common Core, oppose higher taxes, raising the debt ceiling and continuing to fund Obamacare. In contrast, Susan Brooks' voting record has indicated an opposing position on all of these core issues. Equally concerning is the fact that she supported the Gang of Eight bill and has been an enthusiastic supporter of amnesty for illegal aliens. Simply put, the Congresswoman is a moderate Republican and I am a strong conservative Republican. The difference is very clear and the people of the 5th district have a choice," concluded MacKenzie.
Stephen has lived in Fishers since 2000. He has been privileged to serve two tours of duty in support of: Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve and is still an active member in the Air Force Reserve. Additionally, Mr. MacKenzie has had a successful career in the private sector for the last twenty years, as an executive business consultant in the franchise industry and as a new business development director in the architectural graphics industry. He is married to Dr. Cynthia MacKenzie and has three children Jessica, Stephen, and Daniel. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Baptist Bible College and an MBA from Drexel University. Stephen is an active member of Northview Church in Fishers.
