An Outsider. One of Us, Who is For Us!
Stephen was born in Presque Isle, Maine. He had a humble upbringing in a pastor’s home and grew up in New England and the Mid-Atlantic States. He received his B.S. degree in Pastoral Studies from Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, PA. During his studies he traveled to Eastern Europe on a mission trip to the area formerly known as the “iron curtain”. This experience had a significant impact on his life and caused him to have a new appreciation for the freedoms in America.
He has lived in Fishers, Indiana since 2000. Stephen married his best friend Dr. Cynthia MacKenzie in 2010. He has three great children: Jessica a freshman in college, Stephen (10th grade) and Daniel (8th grade). They have two dogs: Daisy a border collie and Lily a yellow lab. They are active members of Northview Church in Fishers, Indiana.
Stephen has had a successful career in the private sector for the last twenty years, as an executive business consultant in the franchise industry and as a new business development director in the architectural graphics industry. In 2014 he received his M.B.A. with honors from Drexel University, in Entrepreneurship and Innovative Management.
As a direct descendant of William Brewster, one of the original Mayflower pilgrims, and having been raised in a patriotic family, he felt compelled to preserve and protect the freedoms that were secured by the sacrifices of his forefathers. Therefore, in his life he has strived to live up to and uphold the rights of the American people by becoming a citizen soldier serving nearly two decades in the Air Force Reserve. He has been privileged to serve two tours of duty in support of: Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve. He is still an active member in the Air Force Reserve.
Throughout his life, he has gained an appreciation for how challenging it can be to live the American Dream, having experienced difficult seasons in his life and persevering with the Lord’s grace through them all. His journey is not unlike many citizens in Indiana and thus has prepared him to be an effective advocate for the people of the 5th district. His unwavering faith in God has sustained him and is the reason he remains focused on preserving our way of life for our great nation, our children and future generations.
